Yeah, so remember how I told you guys that Brian and I, along with some of his friends, were going to go out last night? Soooo....that didn't exactly happen. Like, AT ALL. *sigh*

You see, about an hour or so before Brian was coming to pick me up, he called me on my cell and told me that Jessica (his BFF's girlfriend) had contracted some kind of wicked stomach flu and so neither of them would be able to go with us. And to make a long story short, that made Brian and me decide to change our plans. Sure, we still could have gone out (and I kinda wanted to, actually) but in the end we both decided to wait until Jessica was feeling better and try going out all together some other time. Meh. >.>

It wasn't all a bust, though! :D Brian still came over and we hung out together until about midnight. We had a lot of fun just talking, telling each other funny stories (mainly featuring each of our crazy families) and after awhile I called out for some delicious takeaway Chinese for us both. I love Chinese food, and that, along with a few glasses of wine, had us both feeling pretty darn mellow. LOL! ;3

Later, I tried to introduce Brian to the wonders of Japanese anime (he'd never seen any except when flipping through channels on the TV), but that didn't go so well, unfortunately. Apparently Brian can't stand reading subtitles on shows or movies, so...yeah. I guess we could try some of the American dubs, but since I usually can't stand those I think I might just pass on the anime idea for a while. :-/

I did talk Brian into watching some of the old TOS Star Trek episodes with me, though, which was very fun! C: It was even funnier to me when Brian started complaining that Kirk never seemed to pay enough attention to the various 'love interests' in the episodes., and instead payed way too much attention to Spock. *giggles* It's always amusing how even non-fans notice this kind of stuff, isn't it? ^__~

I'll try visiting my flist and answering messages a bit later. For some reason LJ is still being a little bitch and going super slow for me. >:-C

Word Count: 2,242 (this part)
Genre/Tropes/Warnings: Action/adventure, romance, angst, jealousy, hurt/comfort sex, mission, slavery, child abuse, mindmeld, troubled_past, violence, infidelity
Author's Note: This story will have at least four more parts (of around the same amount of words), and I hope to have the next chapter out by this Wednesday. Please pay attention to the story warnings, and if any of them bother you you might want to skip this fic. I won't necessarily go into a lot of graphic detail but I won't just gloss over the subject matter either. Also, note that the story rating will go up. Finally, this story may get a bit dark at times, but never fear - it will have a happy ending!

Summary: While on the Enterprise's latest mission to the vacation planet Xanthia X, Kirk and Spock end up having to investigate the mysterious disappearances of many visiting children. In doing so, it isn't long before a series of unfortunate misunderstandings places the men's own relationship in jeopardy.

Aaaand this time around looks like I chose a more 'mainstream' song that probably everyone has heard before (and if you haven't, then definitely check it out). LOL! But honestly, this was the first song that came to my mind whenever I saw the theme for today, so hey, I just went with it. *wink*

30 Day Song Challenge - Day 3 - A Song That Makes You Happy

So, the song I chose for today's theme is Bubbly by Colbie Callait. And I chose it because, like the title implies, it just makes me feel all 'bubbly' and happy inside. Honestly, I defy anyone to listen to this song and feel sad. <3 I know that whenever I'm feeling down I just find this song on my playlist and put it on repeat for a while and soon enough I'm feeling a LOT better. In fact, after listening to it again for this challenge, I can't stop smiling! =D

Title: The Long and Winding Road
Author: asmallcrime
Fandom: TRON: Legacy
Pairings: Kevin Flynn/Clu
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 2,039 total
Warnings: Angst, Schmoop
Author's Note: Well, I've always wanted to write my own alternate ending to Legacy, and so this is it! :D Sure, it's not the most original idea, but I think a lot of Kevin and Clu fans wish something like it could have happened in canon...
Disclaimer: I do not own the TRON franchise nor any of its characters. I am making no profit off of this story. This is purely a work of fiction. Oh, and fan-girl love! <3
Summary: All Kevin Flynn has to do is make a choice: will the Creator go back to the world of the users, or will he stay on the Grid...with Clu. Things are never as simple as they seem.

Okay, well, this song choice was a bit harder for me (since there's so many horrible songs I could have chosen) but instead of something obviously bad I chose a song that a lot of people seem to love...and that I could just never get into. Like, AT ALL. >.> And it even fits in with my ongoing interest in all things '80s. LOL!

30 Day Song Challenge - Your Least Favorite Song

So, just what is it about I Ran by A Flock of Seagulls that I don't like you may be wondering? Well, to be honest, the music and beat of the song is okay, no really terrible problems there. In fact, the overall sound is pretty typical of the time (ironically enough, the song came out the year I was born). But I think it's the lead singer's voice that just...bugs me. I don't know why, but it just always has. It makes me cringe every time I hear it. And I also think the lyrics leave something to be desired. So, yeah, in the end this song just does nothing for me and I hate, hate, hate listening to it. >.>

Hey you guys! *waves* Want to see something really cute? c: My niece is over here staying with me while my sister Valerie runs some errands in town and Carly, my 11-year-old niece, just drew me the cutest picture in MS Paint. And she said she'd never even used the program before! O.O So I think for a first picture that makes this even more impressive. *beams like the proud Aunt she is* Anyway, here it is: Click for image.

We've all been watching some children's anime together (Chi's Sweet Home, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc.) so I think that accounts for the 'anime-esque' hair in her pic. LOL! <3

Anyway, I'm just sitting here on the couch, next to my screen door letting in some fresh air, and trying to both finish up that first chapter of my Star Trek fic and also finding myself distracted by another TRON fic - this time one featuring one of my OTP's: Kevin Flynn/Clu. *wink* So, yeah, I'm just having waaaaay more fun than I have any right to be, considering just how divided my attention is. :P

BTW, I was really good today! I managed to make my 2 mile running quota and I've been watching what I eat and I have to say that I'm feeling LOADS better already. D: I'm sure some of it is just psychological, but still. I think having the right mindset is half the battle, right? ^__^

Well, after seeing this awesome meme that several folks are participating in, like tigerlilly33 , I've decided to join their ranks and complete my own 30 Day Song Challenge. Yay! \O/ I thought it seemed like so much fun, so if anyone else wants to do it I'd definitely encourage them to do so (so I can read about your answers! LOL!) ;D

The 30 Day Song Challenge - Day One: Your Favorite Song

You know, this is actually a very easy choice for me. :D I've loved this song for such a long time, and yeah, it's probably gonna seem pretty predictable to those of you who know anything about my tastes in music, but still. *shrug* The song Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley is my all-time favorite song because of the way it speaks to me. All of Buckley's songs manage to feel really personal and intimate (like he's talking directly to you and no one else) but this one especially evokes just a whole ton of conflicting emotions in me. It makes me want to cry, it makes me want to smile, it makes me want to reach out and hug someone, but most of all it makes me feel nostalgic about some of the people in my life that I've both loved and lost. It really is just an amazing song, and if anyone listens to only one Jeff Buckley song I'd recommend this one (or Hallelujah). <3

Well, okay, okay, so maybe I didn't do absolutely nothing, but I tried. LOL! I just woke up feeling all lazy and slow and like my head was stuffed full of cotton-bails, which was a pretty weird sensation, to be honest. :P

I did do a few chores around the house and outside (OMG, you guys, my hydrangea bushes are looking just so, so pretty right now! Lots of lovely pink and blue flowers!) and I also went to a local shoe store and bought me a pair of Sketcher's Shape Ups in black and hot pink, since I'm doing the whole 'diet and exercise thing' right now. I'm wanting to lose about 20 pounds, ideally, so I can get back down to my usual 130 pounds. I'm 150 now and it's really bugging me, as my clothes don't fit well (the ones that still fit at all) and I can feel that my energy levels aren't as high as they used to be when I was lighter.

So with that thought in mind, I've decided to start running at least 2 miles, 3 days a week. I live near a Green Belt and it has a path that lots of runners and bikers like to go on, and so I thought it would be a perfect way for me to start being more active. Wish me luck you guys! =D

Also, in other news, I had a wonderful surprise when Brian showed up today for a visit. He only stayed an hour or so, but we had a light brunch together and we both talked about our plans we have for this weekend. Brian and I are going out with a few of his friends for some dinner and dancing at a nearby restaurant/night club. It sounds really fun and I can't wait for Sunday to get here! <3

I'm still working on my icons for Tron. I'll post what I have in a little while - right now I'm enjoying working on a new Star Trek fanfic based on a plotline I've had in mind for a while now. It's gonna be a multi-chapter mission fic, and I hope to have the first chapter out soon!

Word Count: Approx. 1,000
Warnings: Schmoop, WAFF
Author's Note: Um. Well, I wrote this wee drabble because I was inspired by chimera_ally  's M!TOS Comment Fic Party. Except I didn't want to write something in the Mirror!Verse (don't feel confident enough, actually) and I wanted to play with the Reboot characters rather than the TOS K/S. So...yeah, I wrote this as MY answer to the 'Vulcan bowl cut' debate. LOL!
